Week 9 Picks

Today will mark the first time in NFL history that two running backs
will face off with each having 13,500 yards.

Italicized for win
Bolded for spread

Houston Texans @ Jacksonville Jaguars (+1.5) (London) - This should be a high scoring game with JJ Watt out of the lineup which should benefit Fournette the most.  The Jaguars will be missing Dede Westbrook but many project wideout Chris Conley to have a big week.

Chicago Bears @ Philadelphia Eagles (-4.5)- Look for the Eagles offense to get reactivated to an elite level with DeSean Jackson back although they will be tested by a Chicago Bears defense that is still pretty good despite some poor showing in recent weeks.

Indianapolis Colts @ Pittsburgh Steelers - With James Conner out, the Steelers will have to rely more upon rookie quarterback Mason Rudolph sprinkled in with the return of running back Jaylen Samuels.  The Colts struggled offensively last week despite pulling off a win and will be without wide receiver T.Y. Hilton.

New York Jets @ Miami Dolphins (+3) - Since surprisingly beating the Cowboys 24-22, the Jets appeared to have gone back to earth with two blowout losses against the Patriots and the Jaguars.  The Dolphins have been semi-feisty in their last 3 weeks in games that they have covered with Fitzpatrick in the lineup.

Minnesota Vikings (-2.5) @ Kansas City Chiefs - The Chiefs will be without Patrick Mahomes again and this time Kirk Cousins comes to town who will try to replicate what Aaron Rodgers did a week ago.  If the Vikings follow the script of giving the ball to Dalvin Cook and deploying deep options like Adam Thielen, they should pull this one off.  That being said, the Vikings defense has not as stingy as it is on the road which opens up the opportunity for Matt Moore to make it competitive.

Tennessee Titans @ Carolina Panthers (-3.5)(LOCK) - The Ryan Tannehill tour continues where he appears to be a competent quarterback.  That being said, the Panthers were embarrassed last week against the 49ers and usually pull off better efforts when they have bad losses like that.

Washington Redskins @ Buffalo Bills (-10.5) - The Redskins move past the trade dealine still unwilling to trade Trent Williams who has refused to play with the team after they failed to diagnose cancerous growths.  In the meantime, Washington is 1-2 since the hiring of Bill Callahan and 2-1 against the spread.  The Redskins formula for keeping it close may take a hit this week with the Redskins moving to start Dwayne Haskins.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+4.5) @ Seattle Seahawks - While Seattle does seem to win, they have had very few decisive blow out victories this season other than a 17 point victory against the Cardinals.  Russell Wilson is still a much more effective game manager than Jameis Winston who leads the league in interceptions with 8 and no other quarterback through five weeks has at least 6 interceptions.

Detroit Lions @ Oakland Raiders (-2.5) -  Matthew Stafford has been playing pretty well so far this season as they have relied more upon the passing game with Kerryon Johnson out of the lineup. The Raiders are a high scoring team with Derek Carr having his full compliment of weapons with Tyrell Williams back in the lineup.

Green Bay Packers (-3.5) @ LA Chargers - The Chargers were bailed out by a last second field goal miss by the Bears to close out the game.  In a game where more Packer fans can show up, look for Aaron Rodgers to continue his winning ways.

Cleveland Browns (-4)(LOCK) @ Denver Broncos - With the Broncos starting Brandon Allen, look for the Broncos to get on track after a fairly tough schedule over the last 5 weeks where they went 0-5.

New England Patriots (-3) @ Baltimore Ravens - Something has to give as Lamar Jackson looks for his third straight game with over 100 yards on the ground while the Patriots have not given up over 100 yards to all the quarterbacks they have faced all season.

Dallas Cowboys @ New York Giants (+7) - The Cowboys have already lost at New York to the Jets this season.  Then again, they dismantled the Giants although this time around Daniel Jones will be in the lineup as well as a few healthy receivers
